The obverse features the iconic Red Cross emblem surrounded by the Greek inscription “ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟΣ ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΣΤΑΥΡΟΣ” (Hellenic Red Cross), symbolizing humanitarian aid and medical service during wartime. The reverse is engraved with the years 1940–41, marking Greece’s resistance and contribution during World War II.
The medal is suspended from its original ribbon, displaying characteristic red and white stripes, and includes a metal olive branch device, a symbol of peace and honor.
