This beautifully crafted proof coin was issued by the Hellenic Republic in 1984 to commemorate the Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles, USA. It honors Greece’s historic role as the birthplace of the Olympics while celebrating the international spirit of the modern Games.
Obverse:
Features the coat of arms of Greece at the center, flanked by an olive wreath. Surrounding the design is the inscription “ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ” (Hellenic Republic) and the denomination “500 ΔΡΑΧΜΕΣ”. A stylized Olympic torch is also incorporated, symbolizing the flame’s journey from Olympia to the host city.
Reverse:
Depicts a dynamic image of a torchbearer in motion, carrying the Olympic flame—a nod to the ancient and modern Olympic tradition. Behind the figure is a stylized stadium arch. The inscription “ΛΟΣ ΑΝΤΖΕΛΕΣ 1984” (Los Angeles 1984) and the five-ring Olympic logo complete the design.

Returns
- 14 days to cancel or return your order, provided the items are in their original condition.
- Proof and specially finished coins must be returned with the capsule unopened and the coin untouched.
- A proven defective item can be returned in its original packaging within 10 days for a replacement or refund.
- Gold and silver coins are excluded from the right of withdrawal, as their price depends on the precious-metals market (Greek consumer law 2251/1994, art. 3ιβ).
- Bullion photos are indicative. Small marks or milk spots on bullion coins come from minting and are not defects.
