Original Franklin Mint sterling silver Proof medal from the The Genius of Michelangelo series, featuring The Prophet Isaiah, based on Michelangelo’s celebrated fresco from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
This issue was struck in 1970 in .925 Sterling Silver, with a documented weight of approximately 39 g and diameter of 44 mm.
The reverse carries the inscription:
“The Prophet Isaiah – That book of the coming Messiah made Isaiah the prophet.”
This example has attractive deep dark Proof fields with contrasting frosted relief, together with some peripheral golden toning. Light hairlines and storage marks are visible in the mirrored fields.
