Original Franklin Mint sterling silver medal from The Genius of Michelangelo collection, featuring “The Death of Haman”, inspired by Michelangelo’s celebrated fresco from the Sistine Chapel.
The medal was produced in 1970 and struck in .925 Sterling Silver with a Proof-style finish. The obverse depicts the dramatic scene of the punishment of Haman, while the reverse features the distinctive geometric Michelangelo-series design with the inscription:
“Because of his wickedness Haman lost his life – The Death of Haman.”
The example offered here displays particularly attractive dark natural toning with subtle multicolour/rainbow hues, giving the medal considerable visual character. Natural toning is known on medals from this series.
